I have always been an artist! Even as a little girl I was painting, sewing, building, sculpting, and creating anything and everything, always trying new mediums and new ideas, never allowing my brain to rest. Ten years ago I started working with glass and taught myself how to make "hand-blown beads" for jewelry, which lead to a love of glass...and a very expensive kiln. I taught myself to expand on bead making and move into fused glass objects, ornaments, vases and anything I could fit into my kiln. A few years ago I started noticing flowers adorning front doors and fences which started me thinking what I could come up with to replace a "wreath" for the holidays... which lead me into making adornments for all seasons. My start was with wood, glass, metal, tacks, nails, etc. As a vegetarian/vegan, I am very interested in and conscious of the earth and keeping it green which contributed to me keeping an accumulation of clutter and always thinking there is something I can use it for. Now I put all the scraps of glass and metal, along with all kinds of "junk" into creating my art. My whole thought process is to find discarded and old items, reclaiming them into my designs, thus evolving from "Creations by Laurie" to "Re-Creations by Laurie". I hope you enjoy my ever evolving, heartfelt work!
